Les Bien – Alors Tout Va Bien, 2019

“Les Bien” is an homage to the 90’s western dyke flick Desert Hearts by Donna Deitch. Lighthearted and frivolous, it embraces the joy and playfulness of lesbianism, otherwise often associated with seriousness. This becomes a source of friction between the movie’s protagonists, the uptight Vivian, and the easy-going Cay. The white fringe is a reference to the cowgirl outfit the more outgoing Cay wears the first time the protagonists kiss.
