Le fiacre de Madame de Fleurville (Madame de Fleurville’s cab)
This drawing belongs to “Les deux amies” series (the French “gal pal” term used to call representations of lesbian couples through art history). In this series I explore my memories of representations that may have helped me to imagine alternative ways of life, of identity and of relationships, sometimes unconsciously. “Le fiacre de Madame de Fleurville” represents two characters from Comtesse de Ségur’s books, that started living and raising their children together the day after they met.

My work is multifaceted and attempts to probe the boundaries of storytelling and representation systems. When does a story start being a story? Isn’t a single line enough to embody a whole character?
